We manage your investments as fiduciaries free from the conflicts of investment product or transaction commissions. We are required to act in your best interest at all times and are never paid based on specific investments or transactions made in your accounts.
Our investment philosophy revolves around three main principles:
1. Through planning, understand the range of investment returns needed for goal achievement. This work helps define the range of potential outcomes, and the risk involved, and the suitability based on each clients situation and preferences. This also helps align client expectations with any investment strategies that are recommended.
2. Adherence to asset allocation and disciplined diversification. We utilize technology to build well balanced and efficient portfolios at any risk level. Discipline means avoiding "behavioral drift". This is a human tendency of investors to grow impatient and change their portfolio holdings or targets for any number of inappropriate reasons. The negative impact of "bad behavior" on long term performance can be significant.
3. Rebalance regularly. This involves correcting natural portfolio drift and replacing or upgrading holdings as needed. This is a normal process and is agnostic to current market conditions. Rebalancing reinforces the excellent investment behavior of selling high and buying low without the need for timing the market.
Our behavioral investment model is not informed by the hot investment trend of the moment, but rather, focuses on principles of investing that we believe lead to success over time; understanding our clients risk tolerance, implementing and investment policy based on asset allocation and disciplined diversification, rebalancing as needed, and understanding income and liquidity needs of our clients. We have been navigating clients with this approach through the past 3 decades which have included a number of difficult and challenging times for investors.
